Victor Babeş University Timişoara
The Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie of the city of Timişoara was founded in 1945 and bears the name of the Romanian pathologist Victor Babeş. In 2020 alone, the university educated 6,646 students, who were supervised by a total of 98 professors and about 600 assistants.
The university consists of 3 faculties: Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. The faculties of medicine and dentistry are closely connected.
In addition to the Romanian language, the subjects of medicine and dentistry are also offered in English. In addition, for medicine and pharmacy there are also courses of study in French.
The university follows the traditional structure of a university town, similar to the famous University of Oxford, where there is no large campus, but various specialized clinics in the city where classes are held.
In the first years, pre-clinical subjects are on the schedule such as anatomy, biochemistry and histology. Starting in the 3rd year, most of the teaching will take place in the hospitals. Currently, classes are held in 9 hospitals throughout the city. All hospitals are within easy walking or biking distance.
